Farmers Training Programme at ICAR- IISR RS, Appangala

ICAR- Indian Institute of Spices Research Regional Station, Appangala organized one day farmers training programme on “Improved production technologies of major spices (Black pepper, Cardamom and Ginger,)” on 22.03.2022 sponsored by Directorate of Arecanut and Spices Development, Kozhikode. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. J, S. Nagaraj, Joint Director (Research), CCRI, Sub-Station, Chettalli in the presence of other dignitaries Smt. Anitha Nanda, Progressive planter, Surya Kiran Estate, Hattihole, Mr. S. S. Biju Aditional Director, Spices Board, Madikeri and Dr. S. J. Ankegowda, Head of the Station presided over the programme. Progressive planter Smt. Anitha Nanda Belliappa, Surya Kiran Estate, Hattihole shared her experience in black pepper cultivation. During the occasion training e-manual of lecture notes and black pepper extension folder was released.
Training programme emphasized on recent advances in improved varieties, production and plant protection technologies of black pepper, cardamom and ginger. During the training lectures were given on Improved varieties-bridging yield and quality gaps in spices, advances in quality planting material production, agronomy and physiological interventions, Biotic stress and its management in spices by scientists of ICAR-IISR, RS, Appangala. An exhibition showcasing technologies of ICAR-IISR was also arranged for the benefit of farmers. More than 130 farmers from different regions of Karnataka attended the training programme.
