ICAR-Indian Institute of Spices Research, Kozhikode celebrated the Institute Foundation Day on 2 July 2018 at the main campus, Chelavoor. Honorable District Collector Sri. U V Jose IAS inaugurated the function. He said the Indian Institute of Spices Research needs to engage people from different walks of life across the country in diverse ways to make their lives meaningful, delivering the inaugural speech. Stressing the importance of research in agriculture, he also said that there is an urgent need for the research institute to connect with the farming community, industry, other institutes and the District administration for spicing up the nation’s progress. The chief guest distributed the awards of excellence to selected employees for their dedication and commitment. The meeting was chaired By Dr. K.V. Ahammed Bavappa, the founder director of IISR. Former director Dr. V.A. Parthasarathy, former Project Coordinator, Dr. A.K. Sadanandan and Shri. V. Sivaraman offered felicitations. Director, Dr. K Nirmal Babu welcomed the gathering and Dr. Santhosh J. Eapen proposed vote of thanks. In the forenoon, renowned design consultant, communication expert and academician, Dr. K P Prem Kumar, delivered a motivational talk. As part of the foundation day outreach programme, a guided tour of the research facilities of the institute was arranged for the public. More than hundred stakeholders, who turned up for the visit were given black pepper saplings for planting.
